Seven Uses for a Room Divider
Share
Open plan living spaces have become increasingly popular over the years, but sometimes you want to separate the different sections of your room. That’s where room dividers come in! Stylish and functional, there are many ways to use these – have them as a permanent fixture, or fold them up when not in use.
1 – Create Living Room Zones
Many people have one room that incorporates the living room and dining room. Surprisingly, adding a room divider in a strategic location can make you feel like you have extra space.
2 – Hide Your Bed in Studio Flats
If you live in a studio flat, and you want to invite friends round – you might not want to showcase your bed to everyone. A room divider looks much better than a curtain and can be easily removed once your friends have gone. The average length of a UK single bed is 190cm – and our 6 panel room dividers can stretch up to 240cm.
3 – Give Your Children Some Space
Many children in the UK share bedrooms with their siblings. This can lead to arguments about everything. Give them time to decompress and some independence by using a room divider. You can also pick up some kid’s cube storage – the internal shelves make it easy to distinguish which shelf belongs to which child.
4 - Give a Guest Some Privacy
If you have a guest sleeping on your floor for a few nights, you can use a room divider to help them feel more comfortable, and to keep you out of each other’s hair.
5 – Create a Play Zone
Two minutes after the toy box comes out, it feels like it has exploded – toys and crafts and dressing up clothes are spread across the whole house. Use a room divider to create a play zone where you can supervise your little one, and find it easier to pack up.
6 – Create a Home Office
If you work from home it can be difficult to switch off. This is especially true when the work computer is in your living room – the temptation to check your e-mails is real. Use a room divider in the evening to create a better work/life balance, and remove it during the day when you work.
7 – For Café’s and Restaurants
Room dividers can also be used in a commercial setting – set them between tables to create a more intimate feel for your diners. Choose a Japanese style room divider which allows light to travel through the panels. You can also place a three-tier divider around a lamp to create some wonderful mood lighting.
Now you know seven great ways to use a room divider, there’s only one question – which style do you pick?
